Yep, the 'what kind of books do you write' is my dreaded question too. IF ONLY they would ask me what the book is about first! But I hate trying to explain that I write romance (that's not "trashy") with erotic elements (that's not porn) and in a paranormal genre (that's not exactly sci fi, or fantasy).

I'm tired just thinking about it. Heh.

"What kind of book is it?"

Um, it's like heroic fantasy, but with dirty parts...wait, no, it's like a sexy historical fantasy adventure, except instead of lords and ladies, it's thieves and whores...um, okay, just picture Lord of the Rings, but with prostitutes instead of elves, street thugs instead of hobbits, and nobody cares about magic rings cause they're all too busy having sex.

People invariably look at me like I'm trying to explain quantum mechanics or something, and then say much too cheerfully, "Ooh, that sounds interesting!"

Uh huh.
